Manicare had a boasting presence backstage at this year’s Afterpay Australian Fashion Week (AAFW) as part of the Bec + Bridge Runway Show. Supporting one of Australia’s premium fashion brands, Manicare aided models, ensuring their nails were perfect before stepping onto the runway!
Nail technician Cindy Vellis stated, “For the show we went for a high-gloss, high-shine, clean manicure, and pedicure to give the models a natural and healthy-looking nail to complement their outfits. Simplicity goes a long way in your overall style and elevates your look in a subtle manner”.
Often collaborating with Manicare, Bec + Bridge’s iconic prints adorn several of Manicare’s nail products, so it was the perfect pairing for unveiling their Resort 22/23 collection —TWENTY-ONE—, that headlined AAFW on opening night, Monday 9 May. Bec + Bridge took the stage at Carriageworks in Gallery 1, marking the brand’s 21st anniversary.
“Our aim is to create excitement around everyday beauty tools and accessories that women are already so comfortable using, to help women look and feel confident every day. Every woman deserves a little designer “flare” in their beauty routine” said Cherie Lau, Senior Brand Manager Essential Beauty.
Offering a collection that married archival silhouettes with nostalgic throwbacks from the brand’s late ‘90s roots. Playing on grunge versus minimalism, the runway show featured grunge-inspired tartan prints, oversized tailoring and corsets offset with masculine shapes.
After 20 years in business together, the pair behind Bec + Bridge have never felt more inspired by what the brand is creating in the Australian fashion industry and, more excitingly still, how Australian design is infiltrating the global market.
AAFW engages the industry alongside fashion’s most passionate consumers in one dynamic program, marrying physical and digital activations that celebrate Australia’s distinguished designers and fashion’s cultural influence.
